Our rigorous 5-step process ensures accuracy and completeness
Every club in the Weedbcn directory undergoes the same rigorous verification process. We don't publish information about a club until we've verified it through multiple independent channels. Here's how we do it:
We begin with desk research: Google Maps listings, social media, cannabis club directories, reviews on third-party sites, and news coverage. We document what's publicly available and identify obvious red flags or inconsistencies.
We contact the club directly via phone, email, or in person. We explain who we are, what we're verifying, and what information we'll publish. We ask about operating status, membership requirements, pricing, and other core details. Their response (or lack thereof) informs our assessment.
Our photography team visits the club to verify it exists, operates as described, and meets our safety standards. They check physical details like location, access, seating, ventilation, and cleanliness. They take photos and document the experience.
We verify critical information through multiple sources. If a club claims 20 years of operation, we check news archives and historical records. If they claim specific membership pricing, we verify with follow-up calls. We compare multiple sources to identify inconsistencies.
We publish the club profile when we've verified core information and have no unresolved concerns. Our profile includes what we verified, confidence levels on key facts, and information gaps. We publish both information we confirm and concerns we identified.
Before publishing a club profile, we verify these 10 core items:
Is the club currently operating? We visit and confirm it's open to members. We're not interested in closed clubs or ones that shut down seasonally.
Where is the club actually located? We verify the address, confirm it's accessible, and document neighboring businesses for context.
What does it take to become a member? We verify requirements, pricing, wait times, and whether tourists can join or need local ID.
When is the club open? We verify hours for each day of the week and look for seasonal variations or special closures.
What cannabis products does the club offer? We document flower varieties, concentrate types, edibles, and verify pricing through multiple visits or calls.
What amenities exist? We verify ventilation, seating, bathrooms, security, and cleanliness. We assess whether the space feels safe and welcoming.
What's the atmosphere like? We document the community (local, tourist, mixed), noise level, music, and whether it's a social space or transaction point.
Are staff helpful and knowledgeable? Do they speak English? Do they engage with members or operate at arm's length?
Are there safety concerns, legal questions, or inconsistencies between sources? We document all concerns, even if we publish the club.
What do other reviewers say? We synthesize third-party reviews, look for patterns, and verify claims through our own visits.
Clubs change: ownership, staff, product quality, and policies shift. Operating hours vary seasonally. A club that was excellent six months ago might have declined, or vice versa.
We commit to re-verifying every club in our directory every six months. This means periodic visits, follow-up calls, and updated reviews. If we notice significant changes, we update profiles immediately rather than waiting for the full cycle.
Re-verification ensures our directory stays current and readers get accurate information, not stale snapshots.
We remove clubs from the directory if:
When we delist a club, we note the reason on our archived profile page. Readers can see why a previously-listed club is no longer recommended.
We don't include clubs that:
Our process is rigorous but not perfect. We do our best with:
